EFFECT OF STATE WAGE POLICIES ON DIRECT CARE WORKER WAGES

Abstract Direct care workers (DCWs) have low wages and some states tried to improve their through policies such as Medicaid wage pass-throughs floors specific DCWs. The purpose of this study was examine the DCWs in comparison those other entry level assess effect state on changes DCW wages. We analyzed state-level hourly using Bureau Labor Statistics (BLS) data for two categories separately—(1) home health personal aides (2) nursing assistants compared these entry-level workers. Results show that many implemented reduced gap between workers’ workers, but still substantial states. Additional efforts will be needed increase
